Dr Bhavna Khan is an esteemed Consultant Rheumatologist with over 25 years of experience in the field, with the last 15 years spent in some of the leading hospitals in the UAE. Her expertise and commitment to patient-centered care have been highly regarded, making her one of the key opinion leaders in the field of Rheumatology.

Her expertise extends beyond common rheumatic conditions such as Rheumatoid Arthritis, SLE, Psoriatic Arthritis, Gout, Osteoporosis, and Ankylosing Spondylitis. Her special interest in Pregnancy and Autoimmune Disorders has led to significant collaborative work with Obstetricians and Gynecologists in the UAE, enabling many women to achieve successful pregnancy outcomes.

She has a keen interest in cutting-edge techniques, particularly the use of MRI and ultrasound in managing these conditions. Dr Khan has led training workshops on MRI in Rheumatology, fostering international collaborations with experts from Denmark, Germany, and Canada.

After completing her basic medical degree in India, she pursued postgraduate training in Internal Medicine in the UK, followed by specialized training in Rheumatology at the distinguished University of Manchester Rheumatic Diseases Centre, Salford Royal Hospitals, and Mersey Deanery, Liverpool.

Dr Khan led a pioneering research project at The University of Manchester in collaboration with University College London, investigating the neural mechanisms underlying arthritic pain using functional neuroimaging techniques. She was later awarded a PhD for her research by the University of Manchester. Before moving to the UAE, Dr Khan worked as a Consultant Rheumatologist in NHS hospitals in the UK.

Beyond her research interests, she is passionate about teaching and has hosted numerous educational events and workshops in the region. Dr Khan has held a formal appointment as a Lecturer at the University of Manchester and has mentored medical students throughout her university and NHS roles. She has also contributed to nurse education programs in the UAE. Her role as a speaker and chairperson at educational events and conferences further reflects her dedication to knowledge-sharing and academic discourse.
